VAT paperwork on a desk
The service

VAT is more than a quarterly form.

Choosing the wrong scheme costs money. Reclaiming the wrong input VAT invites enquiries. Cross-border sales without OSS/IOSS registration risks penalties in every jurisdiction you sell into. Our team handles the mechanics of the quarterly return — but the value we add lives in the scheme review, the partial-exemption calculation, the reverse-charge advice.

  • Quarterly VAT return preparation & MTD filing
  • VAT registration & deregistration
  • Scheme reviews: Flat Rate, Cash Accounting, Annual Accounting, Margin
  • Partial exemption calculations
  • Domestic reverse charge (construction)
  • EU OSS/IOSS & post-Brexit exports
  • VAT investigations & voluntary disclosures

FAQ

Common questions

When do I need to register for VAT?

You must register when your rolling 12-month turnover exceeds £90,000 (2024/25 threshold), or when you expect to exceed it in the next 30 days. Voluntary registration below the threshold is often worthwhile — we run the numbers as part of every scoping call.

What is the Flat Rate Scheme and is it right for me?

The Flat Rate Scheme applies a single percentage to your gross VAT-inclusive turnover instead of calculating input and output VAT separately. It suits low-cost businesses (typically service providers with few VAT-bearing costs), but the "limited cost trader" rules mean it is often less generous than it first appears. We model both approaches at each annual review.

What happens if I file a return late?

HMRC's points-based penalty regime means one late filing usually attracts no financial penalty — but points accumulate, and repeated lateness triggers a £200 penalty. Our workflow builds in a five-day filing buffer to keep clients well clear of the deadline.
